These days I don’t have a lot of time for webinars or training programs. But I’ll be honest, as soon as I see an offer for a new masterclass/webinar/e-conference pop up in my inbox, I’m good for signing up only to realize the day of that I actually don’t have time to participate. So then I promise myself that I’m going to watch the replay as soon as I have a free moment, but I rarely do.
Thankfully, podcasts are always there for the win. I can queue them up and listen to them while I’m in the shower, brushing my teeth, or running errands in the car. And with literally thousands of podcasts to choose from, I can get my daily 30-minute dose of inspiration, biz/career advice, or mommy tips and still get other things done without having to be chained to my computer for 60-90 minutes.
This week I’m sharing snippets of some of my fave podcasts and they’re chock full of melanin magic.
The Courtney Sanders Show – I’ve been listening to Courtney’s show for a few years now and I have to say that she’s been one of my biggest influences in pursuing entrepreneurship. She not only gives a lot of smart business development tips but she also shares amazing advice when it comes to being productive, achieving your goals, and balancing career and motherhood.
Crayons and Tantrums – I recently learned about Monica Sutton’s Virtual Circle Time on YouTube back in March when I was frantically searching for educational content for my 2-year-old. We loved her content so much that when I learned that she also had a podcast, I had to add it to my queue. Her episodes are filled with expert advice on early childhood education. While Google is nice, it’s great to hear weekly advice from actual child psychology experts and educators to help me chill out when I start questioning all of my momming decisions.
The Michelle Obama Podcast – I’m going to be honest here; it’s never really a hard sell for me when it comes to anything Forever FLOTUS. I was over the moon when she launched her podcast last month because she’s such a gifted storyteller. Listening to her episodes always make me feel like curling up on the couch with a steaming cup of tea like I’m getting ready to chop it up with one of my girlfriends. The topics of her conversations range from self care to civic engagement to her life growing up on the south side of Chicago.
Jesus and Jollof – These two Nigerian beauties have kept me in tears on my morning commutes into the city. While their episodes are a little less regular than the other three, you’re definitely in for a treat any time Yvonne Orji and Luvvie Ajayi get together. Between Luvvie dropping African proverbial gems and serving all the Black Girl magic wit and spunk and Yvonne providing us with encouragement and healing scriptures and inspirational stories, I’ve literally wept tears of joy and laughter with every episode.
I’d love to know what you’re listening to these days. Drop some of your fave podcasts in the comments.
